Suggestions on Kapamilya Channel

HELLO. This is my first post on this WordPress blog. As you can see, I am a very big fan of the Kapamilya network, ABS-CBN.

While their Kapamilya Channel, which launched on June 13, 2020, is still getting many ads and viewers, there needs to be some improvements on their overall schedule and programming.

Here are now my schedule suggestions for Kapamilya Channel (note: Kapamilya Channel will be referred to as KC):

1. MORNING (5:30am-12pm slots)

On weekday mornings, KC should air Team FitFil and maybe a cooking show from Metro Channel, probably starring Chef Sandy Daza or Chef Claude Tayag. Perhaps the show’s language can be Taglish so that more people will understand the hosts, unlike when on Metro Channel which is primarily an English-language channel catered to the upper-class.

After those two shows, KC can air an educational show (which can be Sineskwela or Hiraya Manawari) and cartoons from the World Masterpiece Theater series, which used to air a lot on ABS-CBN and Yey!

When 10am comes, Kapamilya Blockbusters will take the lead, afterwards the network’s noontime show, It’s Showtime, which should end at 3pm before the 3-o-clock prayer.

5:30am- Kapamilya Daily Mass

6am- Teleradyo hookup

8am- Team FitFil

8:15am- Cooking show from Metro Channel

9am- K Channel/Yey! block

10am- Kapamilya Blockbusters All-Pinoy Movies

12pm- It’s Showtime

2. AFTERNOON (3pm-5:45pm)

Let’s get to the Gold. Kapamilya Gold’s lineup is weak compared to GMA’s current Afternoon Prime shows. Love Thy Woman shall start the said block, with a rewind of The General’s Daughter after it.

As of the time of writing, KC is airing a movie block called Kapamilya Gold Hits at 4pm. While the said movie block airs the best of Star Cinema, the films there are heavily cut due to time constraints. It’s better if a anime block, featuring anime such as Cardcaptor Sakura or Naruto airs instead of films.

At 5pm, instead of the dead 1:30am latenight slot, the kdrama Black shall air. I don’t get why KC airs kdramas on that slot. The 1:30am slot can be given for an extended Movie Central Presents.

3pm- Love Thy Woman

3:45pm- The General’s Daughter (rerun)

4:30pm- Yey! block (All Yey Anime)

5pm- Black (rerun)

3. PRIMETIME (5:45pm-11:30pm)

Primetime Bida’s lineup is very strong just like when it was on Free TV before. While I am a big fan of The World Tonight on ANC, I don’t think it’s doing well in KC. Instead of a delayed telecast of TWT, maybe they can produce an updated or additional edition just like Bandila on DZMM before, or they can also produce a 15 minute edition of News Patrol @ 10:30pm with Henry Omaga-Diaz anchoring the newscast.

My suggested schedule will look like this:

5:45pm- Meteor Garden (2018) (rerun)

6:30pm- TV Patrol

8:15pm- FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano

9pm- Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin

9:45pm- A Soldier’s Heart

10:30pm- News Patrol

10:45pm- Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo

4. LATE NIGHT (11:30pm-5:30am)

The late night schedule will remain the same, except for Movie Central Presents in an earlier timeslot.

11:30pm- Pinoy Big Brother: Balikbahay (rerun)

12:30am- O Shopping (or maybe a rerun of I Can See Your Voice)

1:30am- Movie Central Presents (doubleheader)

Will upload a Part 2 of this post soon.
